Getting started
Orient in the dashboard, run the tour, customize modules, and pick your first path.
Welcome to Pointerly. This guide orients you in the dashboard: the product tour, the getting-started checklist, how to show or hide modules, and which path to take first—links or bio.
What you will set up
- Know where Links, Tags, Bio, Analytics, and Settings live
- Run (or reopen) the dashboard tour
- Customize which modules appear in navigation
- Complete the checklist: profile → affiliate tag → first link → customize profile
- Choose a first distribution path: share a link, or publish a bio page
Before you start
- You have signed in and finished basic account / team creation
- You know whether you are working as a creator or brand team (profile links differ)
- Optional: your Amazon Associates (or other store) tracking ID ready
Step 1 — Land on the dashboard
- Open Dashboard (
/dashboard). - Use the sidebar (or top navigation, depending on appearance settings) to scan core modules: Links, Affiliate tags, Bio, Analytics, Deals, Settings.
- Confirm the active team in the team switcher if you belong to more than one workspace.
Step 2 — Run the dashboard tour
The guided Dashboard tour walks through welcome, creating your first affiliate tag, optional Amazon Creators API, creating a first link, then short stopovers on Links, Analytics, Deals, Bio, AI Content, Billing, Creator Connect, and Settings.
Start or reopen the tour
- From Dashboard → Help (or the Help getting-started card), click Start tour.
- Or wait for the tour if it opens automatically on a first visit.
- Use Next / Back, complete action steps when offered (create tag, paste first URL), then Get Started on the last screen.
Closing the tour dismisses it for later; you can reopen it from Help anytime.
Tour highlights (in order):
| Step | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Welcome | What Pointerly covers |
| First affiliate tag | Create a tracking ID (often Amazon) |
| Creators API (optional) | Enrich product metadata later |
| First link | Paste a product URL and get a short URL |
| Module stopovers | Links, Analytics, Deals, Bio, AI, Billing, Creator Connect |
| You're ready | Settings, teams, where to reopen help |
Step 3 — Use the Getting started checklist
On the dashboard home, a floating Getting started checklist tracks:
- Create your profile — display name and username (
/onboardingif incomplete) - Add an affiliate tag — connect your store tracking ID
- Create your first link — turn a URL into a tracked short link
- Customize your profile — bio, avatar, or cover (creator or brand profile)
Open the checklist from the progress chip (bottom-right on desktop). Marked items update as you complete them; when everything is done the widget dismisses itself. You can choose Don't show again if you prefer a clean dashboard.
Step 4 — Module picker / customize navigation
Pointerly includes many modules. Keep the sidebar focused on what you use daily.
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Appearance (navigation / modules controls).
- Show or hide modules you do not need yet (for example Telegram, WhatsApp, Pipeline).
- Optionally reorder, favorite, or pin items for mobile.
- Save preferences—your choices sync to your user appearance settings.
You can restore defaults from the same appearance / navigation controls if the sidebar feels empty.
Step 5 — Pick your first path
Path A — First monetized link (recommended)
Best when you already promote product URLs in social posts or DMs.
- Add an affiliate tag
- Create a link
- Copy the short URL and share it
- Optional: import marketplace reports later for earnings overlay
Follow the detailed walkthrough: First monetization flow.
Path B — Bio page as your home link
Best when you want one evergreen URL in your Instagram / TikTok bio.
- Create at least one tracked link (Path A)
- Create and publish a bio page
- Add the link to a Links / Highlights section
- Set the page as default and share
/@your-slug(or a custom bio domain)
Where things live
| Goal | Go to |
|---|---|
| Short / deep links | Dashboard → Links |
| Store tracking IDs | Dashboard → Affiliate tags |
| Link-in-bio page | Dashboard → Bio |
| Clicks and trends | Dashboard → Analytics |
| Deal discovery | Dashboard → Deals |
| Domains, API keys, reports | Dashboard → Settings |
| Written guides + tour | Dashboard → Help or /support |
Tips
- Do tag → link before decorating a bio—attribution attaches on the link.
- Keep navigation lean for week one: Links, Affiliate tags, Bio, Analytics, Settings.
- Reopen Start tour from Help whenever you onboard a teammate.
- Creator Connect (brand/creator campaigns) can wait until monetization basics work.
