Billing overview

Read subscription status, usage meters, plan limits, and payment methods on the Billing Overview tab.

draft

Use Dashboard → Billing to see what your active team pays for, how much capacity you’ve used this period, and how to update payment details—without leaving the Overview tab.

What you'll achieve

  • Open Billing for the correct workspace and confirm you can view it
  • Read subscription status, active add-ons, and the upcoming invoice preview
  • Check on-demand usage, plan limits, and period usage meters
  • Open the Stripe customer portal to manage payment methods when a customer exists

Before you start

  • You are signed in to the correct team / workspace (limits and invoices are per team)
  • You have Billing → view permission (otherwise you see Access denied)
  • Partnership members on a brand team see a blocked billing surface—billing stays with the brand owner
  • Optional: a Stripe customer on file if you want Manage Billing for cards and tax IDs

Billing tabs (map)

TabWhat it answers
OverviewCurrent plan, usage, limits, upcoming charges, payment method
PlansCompare Free / Individual / Team / Enterprise; upgrade via Checkout
Sponsored workspacesBrand owners pay for a creator partner’s plan (and optional add-ons)
Add-onsRecurring modules + one-time credit packs without changing base plan
Invoices & HistoryIssued invoices, one-time payments, PDFs, event log

Each tab has its own link: ?tab=overview, ?tab=plans, ?tab=sponsorship, ?tab=addons or ?tab=invoices. ?tab=usage opens Overview, where the usage meters live. To jump to a card, add its anchor, for example ?tab=overview#on-demand-usage or ?tab=overview#reward-credits.

Steps

1. Open Billing

  1. Go to Dashboard → Billing.
  2. Confirm the page header reads Billing with the description Manage your subscription, usage, and payment methods.
  3. Stay on the Overview tab (default).

If checkout just finished (?success=true), Pointerly verifies the Stripe session and refreshes subscription cards automatically.

2. Read your subscription and upcoming charges

On Overview, work top to bottom:

  1. Subscription — current plan tier, status (active, trialing, past_due, canceled, …), and controls to change or cancel (hidden when a brand sponsors this workspace).
  2. Active add-ons (summary) — recurring or one-time entitlements already on this team.
  3. Upcoming invoice — preview of the next bill (plan lines, add-ons, discounts when applicable).
  4. On-demand usage — metered overage that will appear on the invoice after included quota (only when pay-as-you-go is eligible and opted in).
  5. Reward credits — credits your workspace earned in Rewards, with worth $X and View rewards. Shown when you have a balance or a referral program is running.

If Rewards put account credit on your Stripe balance, a line under your plan reads Account credit $X — applied to your next invoice before your card is charged with a From Rewards badge, and the upcoming invoice summary shows an Account credit row, Total due after credit and Next invoice after credit: $X · then $Y/mo. Green From Rewards lines on meters and the invoice preview mark what rewards cover. See Rewards on your Billing page.

Use this stack to answer “what am I paying next?” before you change plans or buy packs.

Special access labels you may see on the subscription card:

  • Trial period — paid tier during trial days.
  • Complimentary … access — admin/staff plan grant (not a self-serve purchase). May note auto-billing after the grant ends when configured.
  • Plan sponsored by … — a brand partner pays; you keep workspace ownership. Cancel/upgrade actions for the paid plan are managed by the sponsor.

3. Check plan limits and period usage

  1. Open Plan limits — meters for seats, bio pages, affiliate tags, deals, and other caps for this workspace type (creator vs brand). Over-limit items are frozen, not deleted; upgrade or buy capacity to unfreeze.
  2. Open Usage — period consumption for clicks, DMs, AI, and other meters tied to your plan window.
  3. Remember: each team you own has its own plan. Switching the team switcher changes what Overview shows.

4. Manage payment method

  1. Scroll to Billing details & payment method.
  2. If a Stripe customer exists, click Manage Billing to open the Stripe Customer Portal (address, tax ID, cards, invoices).
  3. If you see No payment method on file, upgrade on the Plans tab (or buy a one-time credit pack on Add-ons) so Checkout can collect a card.

Tips

  • After buying add-ons or credits, deep links often land on Add-ons (?tab=addons or ?addon=added). Switch back to Overview for the full picture.
  • If a charge succeeded but entitlements look stale, use Sync from Stripe on the Add-ons or Invoices tabs (safe to run anytime).
  • Sponsoring another creator’s workspace lives under Sponsored workspaces—not Overview. See Sponsored workspaces.
  • Need more capacity without changing tier? Prefer Add-ons and credits over an immediate upgrade when you only need one meter.

Common questions

Where do I see what I’m paying?
Overview: subscription + upcoming invoice. History of charges: Invoices & History.

Why can’t I open Billing?
Missing Billing view permission, wrong team selected, or you’re a Partnership member on a brand team (billing stays with the brand owner).

What’s the difference between Overview and Invoices?
Overview’s upcoming invoice is a preview. Invoices & History lists issued invoices and one-time payments (with PDFs).

My plan says complimentary / sponsored — can I cancel?
Complimentary grants are staff-managed. Sponsored plans: the brand sponsor pays and owns cancel/stop on Sponsored workspaces; the creator sees a sponsored banner and typically no self-serve cancel button for that paid plan.

Past due or open invoice alert?
Pay via the Pay invoice link on the subscription card, or update the card under Manage Billing. Leaving past_due risks cancellation.

Do Free workspaces have invoices?
Often empty until the first Checkout (plan upgrade or pack). Free teams can still open Stripe Checkout for eligible packs; pay-as-you-go overage requires a card and PAYG opt-in.
