Invoices and history
Open Invoices & History to view subscription invoices, one-time payments, download PDFs, and review the billing event log.
Use Dashboard → Billing → Invoices & History for a single list of subscription invoices and one-time payments (credit packs and similar). Download PDFs, inspect line items, and optionally expand the Event log for subscription and payment lifecycle events.
What you'll achieve
- Open the Invoices & Payments list for the active team
- Tell invoices apart from one-time payments
- View details / receipts and download PDFs
- Sync from Stripe when a charge is missing, then skim the event log if needed
Before you start
- Correct team selected
- Billing view permission
- At least one Stripe customer / past Checkout session (otherwise the list stays empty)
Steps
1. Open Invoices & History
- Go to Dashboard → Billing.
- Select Invoices & History.
- Read the card Invoices & Payments—description notes that View on a one-time payment shows exactly what was granted.
- Optional: click Sync from Stripe if a recent charge isn’t listed yet.
2. Read the unified list
Each row shows:
| Column | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Date | When the invoice or payment was created |
| Description | Invoice number, billing reason, or payment label (for example an AI credit pack) |
| Amount | Total in the invoice currency |
| Status | draft, open, paid, void, or uncollectible |
| Actions | View and download (PDF icon) when a PDF URL exists |
Rows may be kind invoice (subscription cycle / update) or payment (one-time Checkout).
Sponsored plan charges for a creator may appear on the brand team’s Stripe customer (the sponsor pays)—check the sponsor’s Billing invoices, not only the creator’s.
3. View details and download PDFs
- Click View on a subscription invoice to open the invoice details dialog (line items, subtotal, tax, total, period).
- Click View on a one-time payment to open the payment details dialog—confirm which pack or grant was attached.
- Click the download icon (or download inside the dialog) to open the Stripe PDF / receipt in a new tab.
- For open invoices with a hosted page, pay from Stripe’s hosted invoice URL when provided (email links, Overview Pay invoice, and the portal also surface these).
4. Review the Event log (optional)
- Expand Event log under the invoices card.
- Skim chronological events such as subscription created/updated/canceled, invoice paid/failed, payments, and refunds.
- Use this when reconciling “I was charged but Overview looks wrong”—pair the event timestamp with the list row and Sync from Stripe if needed.
Tips
- Overview’s Upcoming invoice is a preview; this tab is history of issued invoices and payments.
- Credit pack purchases appear here even when you started Checkout from a product upsell, not only from Billing.
- Keep PDFs for accounting—Stripe remains the system of record for tax receipts.
- Past-due open invoices may show a next Smart Retry attempt; update the card via Manage Billing on Overview.
Common questions
Where are my invoices?
Dashboard → Billing → Invoices & History. Also available via Stripe Customer Portal (Manage Billing on Overview).
Invoice vs payment row?
Invoice = subscription cycle or subscription update. Payment = one-time Checkout (credit packs, some one-off add-ons). View opens the matching detail dialog.
How do I download a receipt?
Use the PDF / download control on the row or inside the detail dialog (Stripe-hosted PDF).
Open / past_due invoice?
Pay via hosted invoice link (Pay invoice on Overview) or update the payment method in the portal. Leaving open past_due risks losing paid access.
Why is the list empty?
New team or never completed Checkout. Buy a plan or pack first; then Sync if needed.
I bought a pack but don’t see features—is there an invoice?
Confirm a paid payment/invoice row exists, then Sync from Stripe and check Active add-ons. Invoice proves charge; entitlements grant separately via webhooks.
An invoice total is lower than my plan—why?
Account credit on your Stripe balance (for example from a Rewards referral or promotion) is applied to the next invoice before your card is charged, and shows on the invoice as an applied balance. Any credit left over carries over to later invoices. See Account credit and invoices.
Sponsored workspace—where’s the bill?
On the brand sponsor’s Billing invoices (their card). The creator’s workspace shows the plan as sponsored, usually without cancel/upgrade controls.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No invoices or payments yet | New team / never checked out | Expected until first charge; buy a plan or pack |
| Missing recent payment | Sync lag | Sync from Stripe; hard refresh |
| View opens wrong surface | Invoice vs payment kind | Payments open payment details; invoices open invoice details |
| Can’t download PDF | PDF not generated yet | Wait and retry; open hosted invoice from Stripe email |
| Paid but features missing | Entitlement grant lag | Sync; check Active add-ons; see Add-ons and credits |
