Report reconciliation

Match imported commission rows to Pointerly links by ASIN or item ID, then sync conversions and earnings.

draft

After a marketplace import, Pointerly attributes report rows to existing links when product identifiers match (Amazon ASIN, eBay item ID, Walmart SKU). Reconciliation closes the gap between “Amazon says we earned this” and “this Pointerly link shows the conversion.”

Outcome

Imported rows show With link where a matching link exists; remaining gaps are filled by creating links or running Sync link stats.

Before you start

  • At least one successful marketplace import for the tag.
  • Links created with the same affiliate tag (and matching product IDs) where possible.
  • Permission to view tag reports; optional create-link permission for bulk create from ASINs.

Steps

1. Open the tag report

2. Filter to unmatched product rows

  1. Set the date range to the imported period.
  2. Optional: filter by a specific Import batch.
  3. Set Show to Without link to list commission rows that have a product ID but no Pointerly link.
  4. Use search (product or ASIN) and category filters to focus the list.

Report filter set to Without link
  1. For Amazon rows, use Create link (or bulk create) from an ASIN on the report page when offered—Pointerly creates a link on that tag pointing at the product.
  2. For products you already promote, open Links, confirm the link uses this tag and the same ASIN / item ID / SKU.
  3. Prefer creating missing links from the report so attribution stays on the correct tag.

Report table row with create link from ASIN
  1. Go to Dashboard → Settings → Reports.
  2. Under Link stats from reports, click Sync link stats.
  3. Sync runs in the background; watch notifications for completion.
  4. Reopen a link’s detail view and confirm conversions / earnings updated.

5. Verify reconciled totals

  1. Return to the tag report.
  2. Set Show to With link and confirm important ASINs appear.
  3. Compare summary revenue / ad fees to the partner dashboard for the same period (allow for timezone and pending vs shipped differences).
  4. Optional: Export CSV or XLSX from the tag report for offline checks.

Tips

  • Import first, then sync—sync only uses data already imported for the team.
  • Rows without a product ID cannot attach to a link; treat them as tag-level only.
  • Period-aggregate Linked-Product imports may stamp a whole month on one date—use the Import filter and expect limited day-by-day charts for those batches.
  • Exclude noisy categories (e.g. Unknown) from the report filters if they distort totals.
