Deal alerts
Set discount thresholds, watch keywords, and understand Saved ending-soon alerts.
Configure discount thresholds and watch keywords so Browse defaults match your niche, and understand how deal ending soon notifications work for deals you have saved.
What you'll achieve
- Set a minimum discount and optional price range
- Add watch keywords (for example
headphones, standing desk) - Save preferences from the Deals bell popover or Settings → Deals
- Know how preferences seed Browse vs how ending-soon alerts use Saved deals
Before you start
- Deals feature on your plan
- Notification channels enabled if you want in-app / email deal alerts (Notifications — type deal_alert)
- A clear idea of keywords and discount floors for your niche
Steps
1. Open preferences from Deals (quick)
- Go to Dashboard → Deals.
- Click the bell icon (Deal preferences).
- Set Min discount (%).
- Add Watch keywords (Enter or Add); keywords are stored lowercase. Remove with × on a badge.
- Click Save.
Use Full settings in the popover footer for price range, Bio Deals Schedule, and Telegram channel links.
2. Configure full settings
- Go to Dashboard → Settings → Deals (or open Full settings from the popover).
- Under Price Filters:
- Minimum Discount (%) — “Only show deals with at least this discount percentage”
- Min Price ($) / Max Price ($) (optional; stored as cents)
- Under Watch Keywords, add the phrases you want to track (“Get notified about deals containing specific keywords” on the section; keywords also seed Browse search).
- Optional sections on the same page:
- Bio Deals Schedule (which deals refresh on your bio shop — separate from personal watch keywords; needs Bio Shop)
- Telegram Auto-Post (configure per channel under Telegram — not the same as personal watch keywords)
- Click Save, or Reset to Defaults to clear personal deal preferences.
3. Confirm Browse respects preferences
- Return to Dashboard → Deals.
- On load, Pointerly applies saved min discount and joins watch keywords into the Search Keywords field when keywords exist.
- Run Search and verify results feel on-niche.
- Adjust thresholds if results are too sparse or too noisy.
Preferences set the baseline for browse; you can still change sidebar filters for a one-off search.
4. Ending-soon alerts on Saved deals
- Save deals you care about (bookmark) under Saved.
- In notification preferences, keep deal_alert in-app and/or email enabled.
- When a saved deal’s end time is within about one hour, Pointerly can send:
- An in-app notification (“Deal ending soon”)
- An email (if email is enabled for deal alerts)
- The notification action opens Deals with that deal highlighted.
Watch keywords alone do not replace saving a deal for ending-soon alerts.
Tips
- Pair watch keywords with a realistic min discount so Browse stays high-signal
- Raise min discount during noisy seasons (Prime Day, holidays)
- Use Bio Deals Schedule keywords separately when you want public bio inventory on a refresh cadence
- Telegram channel filters (min discount, stores, categories, posts per slot) are configured per channel—independent of personal watch keywords
- Reset to defaults if experiments make Browse feel stuck empty
Common questions
Favorites (Saved) vs alerts — what’s the difference?
Saved is your bookmark list. Deal ending soon alerts notify you about saved deals that are about to expire. Watch keywords and min discount mainly control Browse defaults (and related preference fields); ending-soon delivery still requires a saved deal plus notification prefs.
Do watch keywords send a push every time a matching deal appears?
Preferences store watch keywords and seed the Deals search box. The automated deal_alert path that runs today focuses on saved deals ending soon (about one hour window), gated by your notification preferences and Deals plan access—not a free-form keyword blast for every catalog match.
Where do I turn alerts on or off?
Use Notifications for deal_alert in-app / email. Use Settings → Deals (or the bell) for min discount, price range, and watch keywords.
What does Reset to Defaults do?
It resets personal deal preferences (min discount 0, no price bounds, empty watch keywords, default alert flags in the preferences entity). Bio Deals Schedule and Telegram channel settings are separate controls.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| No ending-soon alerts | Deal not saved / notifications off / deal not ending soon | Save the deal; enable deal_alert channels; confirm ends_at is near |
| Too many weak Browse results | Threshold too low / broad keywords | Raise min discount; use multi-word keywords |
| Browse ignores preferences | Sidebar filters changed after load | Clear sidebar filters; reload Deals after save |
| Cannot open Settings → Deals | Feature gated | Upgrade plan that includes Deals |
| Preferences fail to save | Session or validation error | Refresh, sign in again, retry Save |
