Deals troubleshooting

Fix empty results, save/compare limits, alert misses, and link-conversion errors.

draft

Resolve empty catalogs, failed saves, comparison limits, alert misses, and link-conversion errors in Deals.

What you'll achieve

  • Separate plan gates from filter mistakes and sync issues
  • Recover from empty Deals / Saved states
  • Fix bulk import and create-link failures
  • Diagnose missing ending-soon alerts vs Browse preference issues

Before you start

  • Confirm Deals is included on your plan
  • Note active store, keywords, min discount, and other sidebar filters
  • Have an affiliate tag ready for the store you are testing (Amazon tag for Amazon search / bulk import)

Steps

1. Rule out access and empty filters

  1. Open Dashboard → Deals.
  2. If you see an upgrade block, unlock Deals under Billing—the catalog will not load without the feature.
  3. Otherwise, enter Search Keywords (required), click Clear Filters if needed, and set min discount toward 0%.
  4. Search a broad keyword (for example wireless).
  5. Try another store if one source returns zero (confirm that store’s deal source is ready).

2. Fix save and compare issues

Save

  1. Open deal detail so live Amazon products can sync (ASIN save path when the id is not yet a UUID).
  2. Toggle bookmark again.
  3. Check Saved after refresh.
  4. If save still fails, the deal may lack a persisted id—retry from a catalog result that already has a deal id, or re-open detail to sync.

Compare

  1. Confirm your plan includes deal comparison (useHasDealComparison).
  2. Remove items if you hit the plan comparison limit (toast: “You can compare up to N products…”). Caps: free 0, individual 2, team 5, enterprise 10.
  3. Ensure items are distinct products (duplicates are skipped on bulk add).
  4. Retry AI Analysis if the first request errors—transient model failures show in the analysis panel.

Toast warning comparison limit reached
  1. Retry a smaller Amazon selection (imports run in chunks of 10).
  2. Confirm team context and preferred Amazon affiliate tag.
  3. For partial success, open Links and skip deals that already exist.
  4. For create-link from Compare, confirm the destination opens and your tag is selected (URLs are cleaned of embedded affiliate tags).
  5. Check plan link limits if every create fails at once.
  6. Remember: bulk import is Amazon-only; use single create-link for eBay / Walmart with a store-matched tag.

4. Diagnose alert misses

  1. Open Settings → Deals (or the Deals bell popover) and confirm watch keywords / min discount saved as you expect.
  2. For ending-soon alerts: confirm the deal is in Saved, has an end time soon (about one hour window), and deal_alert in-app/email is enabled under Notifications.
  3. Lower min discount temporarily if Browse feels empty after preference changes.
  4. Search Deals for a keyword that should match—if Browse finds nothing, preferences or store search are the first fix (not the ending-soon cron).

Tips

  • Treat “no results” as missing keywords or strict filters first, then store readiness, then plan access
  • Keep one store in mind when debugging—multi-store noise hides the real failure
  • After preference changes, reload Deals once so seeded filters apply
  • Log failed ASINs from bulk import and retry them individually

Common questions

Why can’t I bulk-import Walmart or eBay deals?
The import sheet only accepts Amazon deal selections and always applies the preferred Amazon affiliate tag. Create non-Amazon links one at a time (or from Saved) with the matching store tag.

Why didn’t I get an alert for a watch keyword match?
Ending-soon deal_alert notifications target saved deals nearing expiry. Watch keywords primarily seed Browse. Save the deal and enable deal_alert channels if you want ending-soon notices.

Why is Compare blocked?
Either deal comparison is not on your plan, or you hit the tier max (0 / 2 / 5 / 10). Remove items or upgrade.

Why does import put the wrong tag on links?
Bulk import always uses the preferred Amazon tag for the team. Edit the link afterward, or set the correct preferred Amazon tag before importing.
