Publish a post

Use the Compose tab to upload one file, optionally attach affiliate links, write a caption, pick destinations, and send immediately or schedule per account.

What you'll do

• Upload or import media
• Attach up to five Pointerly links
• Write or AI-generate a caption
• Select destinations and affiliate placement modes
• Send now and verify status under Publications

Before you start

• Plan includes Content Studio publishing (content_publishing)
• Connected social accounts that support the media type you will upload
• Product links already created if you want affiliate injection (Create a link)
• For Auto-DM on Instagram/Facebook: the link should already have a DM automation scoped to the next post

Steps

1. Open Compose and add media

1. Go to Dashboard → Content Studio.
2. Stay on the Compose tab.
3. Under Media, upload a video or image (one file for every destination you select).
4. Optional: click Redistribute something you already posted to pull media from a prior publication instead of uploading again.

Composer drafts restore automatically if you left unfinished work for this team.

2. Attach affiliate links (optional)

1. Open Affiliate links.
2. Pick up to five active links. The first link is primary; extras ride as extraLinkIds.
3. Links are chosen before the caption so AI can name the product and each destination can apply its own UTMs.

Skip this step if you only need organic captions.

3. Write the caption

1. Enter the base caption under Caption (copied to every destination until you override one).
2. Optional: type a short brief in What does the video show?
3. Click Write it for me when you have at least one link or a brief — the button stays disabled otherwise.
4. Edit the result; regeneration replaces the draft rather than appending.

4. Choose destinations and placement

1. Under Destinations, click each connected account chip to toggle it on.
2. For each target, set format (Reel, Story, feed, Shorts, etc. as offered), optional schedule time, and affiliate modes:
   • In the caption
   • In the first comment
   • Auto-DM (Instagram / Facebook only)
3. Unavailable modes stay visible but disabled with a reason (for example, YouTube cannot post a first comment via API).
4. Leave schedule empty to publish on the next dispatcher tick after you submit.

5. Send and verify

1. Optional: Stage the current composition if you want to build another before sending the batch.
2. Click the primary send control (progress shows done / total when multiple staged items go out).
3. Immediate destinations call dispatch now; scheduled ones wait for the cron.
4. Open the Publications tab and refresh until each target shows published, processing, failed, or quota.

Success toast: Sent. Check Publications for each destination.

Tips

• Staging parks a complete composition so you can build the next one without losing work; editing a staged item swaps it back into the form.
• Swapping a video for a photo can auto-remove destinations that cannot accept images — watch for the info toast.
• Prefer testing Auto-DM on a private / low-reach post before a launch.

Carousels and text posts

The Compose tab publishes one file per post. Instagram carousels (2–10 photos or videos) and Facebook Page text posts are published from an AI Content post's Publish panel, on the web or in the iOS app. See Publish a post from AI Content.
