Content Studio overview
Upload once and publish to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube with affiliate placement, scheduling, and a publications queue.
Content Studio is Pointerly’s social publishing desk: upload a video or image once, attach affiliate links, choose destinations, and send or schedule across connected Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube accounts.
What you'll achieve
- Know which tabs matter for compose, bulk, calendar, and status
- Understand plan vs permission gates before you draft
- Connect social accounts and publication capacity before a campaign week
Before you start
- Correct team selected in the dashboard
- Social accounts permission (the Studio page is guarded on that module)
- Plan feature
content_publishing(Compose and Bulk show an upgrade block without it) - At least one connected Instagram, Facebook Page, TikTok, or YouTube account under Settings → Social / Integrations
- Remaining publication capacity (packs and pay-as-you-go live under Billing → Add-ons)
How the page is organized
Open Dashboard → Content Studio (route /dashboard/studio).
| Tab | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Compose | Single composition: media → links → caption → destinations → send |
| Bulk | Stage a week of videos and let the queue spread posting times |
| Calendar | Preview scheduled distributions next to other calendar items (needs calendar view permission + plan feature) |
| Your videos | Browse videos already on connected accounts (not behind the publishing gate) |
| Earnings | Attribution / earnings preview for publications (needs earnings permission + ledger feature) |
| Publications | Live status per destination (queued, processing, published, failed, quota) |
Compose and Bulk sit behind a FeatureGate for content_publishing. You can still open Studio and read Your videos / Publications when you are out of publications or waiting on an upgrade.
Destinations and affiliate placement
Each destination card sets format, caption override, schedule time, and affiliate modes:
| Mode | Meaning |
|---|---|
| In the caption | Link text in the caption (not clickable on some Instagram feed formats) |
| In the first comment | First comment after publish (unsupported on YouTube by design) |
| Auto-DM | Meta only — uses that link’s DM automation with “next post” scope |
Platforms that cannot accept the current media type are disabled with a clear reason (for example, TikTok rejects an image).
Tips
- Unfinished Compose work is autosaved to browser local storage per team for up to seven days — useful after a refresh, not a shared team draft.
- Empty scheduledFor on a destination means “dispatch now”; each destination can have its own time.
- YouTube may warn when API compliance forces a private upload even if you requested public — that is a platform constraint, not a failed Pointerly send.
- TikTok supports direct post vs inbox modes; inbox success means the video landed in the creator’s TikTok inbox to finish in-app.

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Upgrade block on Compose | Plan lacks content_publishing | Billing → upgrade or unlock publishing |
| “No accounts connected” | No OAuth social accounts | Connect IG / Facebook / TikTok / YouTube in Settings |
| Destination greyed out | Media type unsupported | Switch to video, or remove that destination |
| Stuck on Queued | Immediate dispatch failed or cron lag | Open Publications, refresh; for local/dev ensure dispatcher / cron runs |
| YouTube privacy warning | API compliance audit | Expect private until Meta/Google audit clears; re-upload after approval if needed |
