Terms, policies and the acceptance screen

Which documents you accept, why Pointerly asks you to accept again after an update, what happens if you don't, and where each policy lives.

draft

Using Pointerly means agreeing to three documents: the Terms of Service, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy. Pointerly records when you accept them and which version you accepted.

Where you accept

  • Joining the waitlist or signing up: the first step shows a short "Before you continue" summary and one checkbox, I agree to the Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy and Privacy Policy. The checkbox starts unticked and nothing is saved until you tick it.
  • The acceptance screen: a signed-in person without a current acceptance sees Accept to continue before the dashboard opens. This happens after a first sign-in with Google or another social login, for accounts created before acceptance was recorded, and after an important update to one of the documents.
  • The iOS app shows the same acceptance before you continue.

The summary on these screens is short and plain; the linked documents are what govern.

Why am I asked to accept again?

Each document has a version (the date it took effect). When a change affects what people agreed to, it is marked as material and everyone who accepted an older version is asked to accept again on their next visit. The screen is titled We updated our terms and lists What changed for each document, with the date and a one-line summary. Editorial fixes (typos, clearer wording, contact details) do not ask you to accept again; they only update the version history at the bottom of each page.

What if I don't accept?

You can't use the dashboard or the app until you accept the current versions. You can Sign out from the acceptance screen. Your links keep redirecting and your automations keep running in the meantime; API keys and automations are never blocked by the acceptance screen.

If you disagree with a change, you can stop using Pointerly and delete your account from Settings → General. Questions about the documents: support@pointerly.io, or open a ticket (topic Terms & policy acceptance). Privacy requests: privacy@pointerly.io.
